As promised from my article on Monday (My Thoughts 8/15), I said that I would write about my hiking experience upstate. I finally got around to it, 2 months after the fact.

My boyfriends family is from Upstate (Brewster specifically) so we go up frequently to relax outside the city, and hit up the cheap Rite Aid of course.

On a clear weekend in June we decided to make our way up Break Neck Mountain. If you're coming from the city its about a 1.5 hour train ride from Grand Central to Breakneck Ridge Trailhead (literally the stop name), and then a short walk from the station.

Enter in on the right side of the tunnel and hike on up the mountain. Please note: This hike is for those that are in somewhat shape and exercise weekly. Also, if you hiking shoes I would wear them!

Pat and I woke up at 4am so that we could see the sunrise at 6:30am (Brewster is about 30 minutes by car away from Breakneck Ridge, and we had to stop for breakfast). Total hiking time is 3 hours, and it's worth it. Overall, a great way to get out of the city hustle and bustle, and the workout is free.
